Journey of an IAS aspirants

Every year UPSC conducts an exam for the prestigious post of IAS, IPS, IFS, IRs, etc. but the chances of passing the exam are not even 10% of the total number of people filling the Exam form, in the previous year the number of people filled forms for UPSC was around 18 lakhs, out of which only 5 lakh people have appeared for the exam, some of this candidate may have not appeared due to the family pressure, finance pressure, unable to give more number of years or they have just given up their dream of becoming a Civil servant officer. Out of these 5 lakhs people, around 12000 people pass the prelims exam, the people who are not able to clear prelim exam gives up the preparation, due to the thought of not making into the mains list, but few people have a strong will power so they appear next year. The number of positions available through the UPSC exam is just in few hundred. Out of these 12000 only around 1500 or 2000 people crack the mains exam and make it to the interview, the interview process is so tough and only a few candidates make it to the final list.

Some of the candidates go into depression and mental pressure,  as the amount of preparation they have done is immense for the subjects like  Environment, Indian History, Administration, Geography, Polity, Economics, Ethics, Public, Sociology, Current Affairs, International Issues, Science, World History, it’s like doing an MA in all these subjects in a year, along with that some papers require skillset of math, English, reasoning, and logic  which completely transform them from an amateur to a more mature and knowledge person

The path followed by IAS aspirants

The journey of an IAS Aspirant requires sheer focus, determination, willpower, and a strong desire to crack UPSC with good marks until he makes it to the final list. Some people leave their hometown, family, current job, Language and push themselves into something completely new. If they are not financially stable in their new region they get help from home, which is odd from the candidate's point of view which puts huge pressure to crack UPSC. The preparation takes around 12-14 hours of the day, but some people also crack studying daily just by giving 7-8 hours. some take around 12 months of preparation while some may also take around 4-6 years it all depends on seriousness. The overall selection ratio is around 0.01% which is very low as compared to the toughest exam in the world. The candidates put their consistent efforts to get their dream job.

Most of the candidates fail in their 1st attempt hit the rock bottom, but that is not the end, again they stand up and start preparation, few candidates who cracked their UPSC exam on 1st attempt are Kanishak Kataria, Shreyans Kumat, Srushti Jayant Deshmukh, Koya Sree Harsha,

Just to summarize, if you are well focused and determined to crack the exam, you will make it for sure but this exam will take all the things, family time, entertainment, friends, finance and sometimes only gives you mental pressure, but only a few can handle it and again make it to final and then the happiness is immeasurable, everyone will be proud of you.
